Meet Lucy Wess, Esq.

Professional Mediator and Facilitator serving Central and Western Maine

Hello!  I am proud and grateful to be a conflict resolution professional.  In addition to my private practice, I serve as a Court Alternative Dispute Resolution Service (CADRES) Mediator for Family Matters in the Maine District Courts in Lewiston, Augusta, Farmington, and Waterville.  My journey to this calling started over a decade ago at Valparaiso University School of Law in Indiana.  Early in my studies, I discovered the world of alternative dispute resolution.  I focused my legal studies on mediation, negotiation and arbitration – and fell in love with the idea and practice of problem solving through collaboration.  I also gained practical experience as a community mediator through the VUSL Mediation Clinic. This experience sealed the deal – I WOULD be a conflict resolution professional!

Upon my graduation in 2010, I became a member of the Pennsylvania Bar and eagerly continued to study and train in dispute resolution while working in a variety of professional settings around the country and across the globe.  After relocating to Maine, I seized an opportunity to live my dream and become a full-time professional mediator and facilitator in 2018.  Soon after, I started Mindful Mediation and here I am!  My practice focuses on providing accessible interactions where parties have the space to communicate honestly and responsibly as a means to create mutually beneficial solutions for now and in the future.

I call the beautiful community of Wilton, Maine home and live there with my husband Jordan and our dogs Chewie and Maisy.  I enjoy snowshoeing, sledding and cozy, warm fires during our snow-filled winters and hiking, gardening and jumping in Wilson Lake on hot summer days.

“I chose Mindful Mediation as a business name because I’ve found that successful conflict resolution occurs when everyone involved actively focuses on being mindful – aware, present, and respectful – when exploring issues and building solutions.”
